Learning to Take a Break

Sometimes you just get that feeling where you want to keep working.

You want to work nonstop. You don't have time to put it down, you just want to keep going until its done. You tell yourself, "Just a few more. I'm almost there... I just know it!"

Hold up, cowboy. You've been at it for days nonstop. You should take a break to cool off.

"But, no!" you say, "I want it all done right now!"

Listen, partner. All projects can and will get done as long as you pace yourself. You see, working on anything to books, comics, or last-minute homework assignments, take varying amounts of time. We all can't finish everything in a day, but we can't let it sit and pile up. Nobody likes to have weight on their shoulders, and especially don't like when that weight is piled on us. We're humans, not pack mules. Our backs can only carry so much. And for some, that kind of nonstop work ethic is their only way of satisfaction. You can't take that away from those people, but you should at least reward them with a vacation or two.

A good long bout of work can get a lot done, but learn to take a break every now and again. It will be there to finish, and can be finished as long as you pace yourself, especially with deadlines. As the Jamaicans say it, "Don't worry 'bout a thing!"

So get off the computer (or your phone), and go have some fun for the day.
