What's Mr. Goon Toon Up To?

Hey guys, how's it going?

Things are a bit slow, but Cat University is coming together. I'm not posting this book on Tapas.io. The reason being is that Tapas hasn't been providing good enough service for my works, including my novels. I won't explain why except that they are really "picky and choose-y" with which of my pieces they promote. Not to mention the fact that the audience there only reads one chapter, gives it hundreds of views, and leaves. They subscribe, but they don't engage. Webcomics and Webnovels are prominent now, but the websites hosting them feel like they're stuck in the mid-2000s.

Ko-Fi is the first place I chose to sell these digital stories because it's easy and doesn't require users to enter dozens of information to buy a singular story. Until I get myself a proper publisher, this is the method I'll be sticking with for this story and any other original e-books I create. Then, of course, I'll continue making web novels and webcomics when the ideas come rolling in. However, selling these original stories is one of the goals I have in mind to expand Goon TOON Studios into the indie publisher/creator studio I always wanted. Then once I fund enough, I'm going to make the jump to publishing on places like Amazon Kindle, then hopefully see a couple of stories on shelves of local bookstores.

If there is one thing, I would absolutely LOVE to do in the future is to be able to write stories for some of my favorite franchises. You guys remember my Donald Duck blog post, right? Because the Disney Duck has been a major influence on my storytelling, I would love to be hired to write a couple of issues for the Duck Family. I'd love to write an anthology that connects each story but feels like their own self-contained adventure. That would be amazing!

Speaking of my web novels, I have been sketching around drafts for the next volumes of my ongoing Fox & Funky/Redhead Monster Hunter works. Still, I gotta tell you, even when you have a GREAT idea, you always feel the blockage of a roadblock when it comes to the actual writing process. Whether I'm trying to be funny or serious, that block, man. That Mental Block.

For Jean-Luc & Joey, I wrote a couple of drafts for their next adventure in THE RUNAWAY ROADTRIP. I have two stories competing to be the Whackos' next destination. What's particularly difficult about this is that they're both ideas I want to write about, but I don't know exactly HOW to bring them to that place. The story themselves aren't that difficult. It's just the beginning to show how they [SPOILERS] leave Rosewood [END OF SPOILERS] and get there. Surely, I can write the stories then piece them together in a cohesive arc, but what do you think this is? Disney Star Wars? Bah!

As For Sonia, developing the coveted VOLUME 7 is just… slow. I know where I want to take the series, but writing it is the painful part. Sonia is a more structured and serious work compared to my other series. I don't want to divert from the main story, even with the Ghost Anthology I began when I wrote The Crippled Heart. I don't particularly appreciate when series shift too far from the main plot. I feel like TV shows of the last few years (*cough* Cartoon Network *cough) have fallen into this trap because it worked so well for Adventure Time. I have a couple of Ghost Anthology stories on the cards, but this is just a short anthology. It will still have elements that tie in with the main volumes, but this anthology is just a short collection. The next piece of the anthology does connect with Mellisa & Julianna. Let's just say that the girls are thrust in a world beyond worlds. Their friendship might even be tested.

STICKTOONS has had a consistent publishing schedule on Tapas. Season 4 has enough episodes to last through APRIL. After that, things have gotten somewhat weird in the little newsstrip-like world. SOMEWHAT weird…

I'll get right back to these novel stories after I finish (or nearly finish) Cat University. But, for now, everyone will have to wait just a little longer patiently. In the meantime, you're free to enjoy the current volumes available as much as you want! And don't forget, if you're going to support me, go ahead and drop me a tip on Ko-Fi. All donations go straight to me and motivate me to make more content for you! I also have a REDBUBBLE shop if you want some cool Goon Toon merchandise. (I need to create new merch…)
