Editing: The Hard Part of Writing
When typing stories, the hardest part isn't the long process... it's actually coming around to write and get it done. I sit at my computer near 24/7, spending hours in the day writing and writing. Creating is the easy part (art block aside), but EDITING is the hardest. Proofreading and checking areas for structure flow is difficult to do on your own without a program that will assist and assess your sentence structure.
If there are two programs that I prefer when editing my works, they have to be:
GRAMMARLY
Hemingway Editor
Both of these programs will scan different areas of your work, and grade you based on how readable each story is. I do like this since some of my structure still sounds like I write like a sixth grader, despite writing a lot of informative college essays.
Sometimes, even when editing, its tough. Scene changes and cut jokes are one thing, but remakes of entire chapters happen every once-in-a-blue-moon, it's a wonder how I ever finish my works in the first place.
Sometimes those programs don't mesh with my way of wording things. At that point, I think I just get confused... and really need some water.
On the bright side, while editing is the hard part... it creates the best version of my stories.
Are you a writer? What is the hardest part for you?
