The Longest Periods… Between Writing Chapters (and more)

It's hard enough waiting for the next story, or chapter to a story to come out. Heck, I'm surprised to even still have ONE active follower for any novel I do, if any at all. Not even a like! Just "Oh, you got views today" and that's it.

Thanks, Tapas...

But when it comes to actually writing your novels and stuff, what's it like for you? Do you have everything planned out, finished, so all you have is a buffer of chapters for a multitude of stories? are you stuck with writers block sometimes and can never just get to a moment where you actually can keep going?

What's the longest period between the last chapter you posted, and the chapter you're finishing/preparing to post? Or better yet, what's the moments where you had an idea, then it changed midway?

For me, the worst its been is always at least one month or two. Especially when I'm writing a story where I HAVE the ending and the beginning all setup, but the middle is a long gestating period. I HAVE the initial setup, but going through the actual events is like making a movie. You're gonna have a ton of "deleted scenes" just sitting there, and when you get to the part you're looking forward to, the build up turned out much different than originally hypothesized.

At least... that's how its been for me.

And don't get me started when it comes to action sequences.

Trust me, I have some that just play back over and over and over in my head, but typing them out always has slight differences than intended. Like... like one part in Sonia's Halloween Venture "Night of the Living Ginger."

In the scene where Sonia and Mellisa run amok against the weird ghost like a Scooby-Doo chase scene, Mellisa was supposed to run through some magic door that took her right back to the start, then she was supposed to find some kind of blunt object (like a hammer) and "ACCIDENTALLY" knock Sonia out. But instead, the scene morphed into this:

A scene that, in hindsight, am glad turned out as it did.

Trust me, I re-read these stories several times, and I remember all of the changes I went through just to get what I have for the public. If I had a list of all the ideas I've cut or changed, that would be an entire bed of episodes just for Tapas to go "What the HECK?" and wonder why there's so many chapters posted in a constant motion.

But enough about me. What about you? What's it like when YOU write? How long does very chapter take? And can you help fill the void that is my like/no-like ratio? (Okay, maybe not that last part)

Be Toontastic~!
